Fat Cattle Report
Good morning, this is Hugh Edwards taking a look at the weekly livestock market reports out of Dubbo for the 3rd week of June 2023, with only the fat cattle to report on this week due to the King’s birthday long weekend. There was a total of 4000 fat cattle penned.
Into the cattle pens, where it was a mixed quality yarding. With a fair number of young cattle to suit feeders and processors alongside young weaner cattle for the restockers. With only a limited number of grown steers and heifers but a fair run of cows.
Young kill cattle were firm with prime vealers topping at 365c/kg. Prime yearlings bringing 260 - 356c/kg. Feeder steers were 5 – 10 cents dearer, while the feeder heifers were 10 – 15 cents cheaper, with feeder steers selling from 254 - 378c/kg while the feeder heifers made 220 – 338c/kg. Young restockers sold to a stronger demand selling to a top of 380c/kg for steers and 340c/kg for heifers.
Grown steers and heifers were 10 – 20 cents cheaper with the prime grown steers making 210 – 305c/kg while the heifer portion brought 226 – 302c/kg. Cows were 10 cents cheaper, with the medium 2 & 3 score cows selling from 135 - 206c/kg, while the prime heavy weights made 190 - 223c/kg to average around 208c/kg.
Carter Lindsay & Weber sold the following cattle for their clients –
Firstly to Nyngan for the Carter family off “Fairview”, who sold well finished Angus steers to the kill order for 322 cents, they weighed in at 528kg coming back at $1703.
Down the highway to Warren for the Noonan family off “Purnim”, who sold Angus feeder steers weighing 480kg bringing 350 cents, making $1682.
In the Trangie district for the Denston family, who sold a well bred line of Angus weaners with the lead draft of steers bringing 344 cents and weighing 335kg coming back at $1156.
To Tooraweenah now for the Markey family off “Lancelot”, who sold well bred Angus and Angus cross steers weighing 525kg, making 334 cents and coming back at over $1754.
Across to Gulgong for the Leven family, who sold, well bred Angus steers to the feed orders bringing 338 cents, making over $1353.
Lastly to Wellington for the Deshon family off “Rocklee”, who sold properly finished Angus 2 tooth heifers that weighed 550kg selling for 296 cents and coming back at $1629.
