Good morning, this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the last week of November, 2023.
Tallied numbers this week included -
3500 fat cattle
8000 lambs
7000 mutton
& 700 store cattle
Into the cattle pens firstly and with wide spread rainfall over much of the supply area, the market gained significant ground on the previous weeks market. Across all grades we saw increased activity at the rail with all grades lifting 20 – 30 cents and more in places.
Young trade cattle lifted 20 cents with prime yearlings selling from 220 - 302c/kg. Feeder steers gained 40 cents to sell from 250 - 356c/kg, while the feeder heifers gained 30 cents to sell from 230 - 302c/kg. Restockers were very active in the market with well bred steers and heifers breaking the 400 cent barrier on numerous occasions. A notable sale was a pen of Angus steer calves weighing 190kg, making 440 cents to return $836.
Grown steers were 22 cents better to sell from 225 - 262c/kg, and the grown heifers gained 24 cents to sell from 226 - 259c/kg. Cows lifted 25 cents with the better D3/4 cows selling from 215 - 231c/kg. The best heavy bull reached a top of 215c/kg.
