Fat Cattle Report

Good morning this is Shaun McHugh taking a look at the weekly livestock markets out of Dubbo for the 2nd week of October.  Tallied numbers this week included –

 5450 fat cattle
19000 lambs
10000 mutton

Into the cattle pens firstly where numbers keep rolling in with plenty of cattle lacking finish in all sections.

Young cattle to the processors were 15 cents cheaper in places with prime steer yearlings selling from 148 - 224c/kg, while the prime heifer yearlings sold from 140 - 201c/kg.  Feeder steers lost 20 cents to range from 140 - 230c/kg, while the feeder heifers lost 10 cents and sold from 130 - 209c/kg.  Young cattle to the restocker were 20 cents softer in places with young steers selling to 228c/kg and young heifers reaching 179c/kg,

Grown steers finished firm on last weeks rates and ranged from 150 - 214c/kg, with the grown heifers selling from 140 - 208c/kg.  Cows were 15 cents cheaper this week.  The better finished D3/4 cows sold from 150 - 194c/kg.  The best heavy bull reached a top of 206c/kg.

Fat Sheep & Lamb Report

Into the lamb pens now where numbers lifted and condition was lacking.  We are seeing plenty of long wool lambs lacking condition in both the crossbred and Merino sections and these large numbers are having an enormous impact of prices being offered and received.

Trade lambs being presented in a neat short skin with cover remained firm to sell from $75 - $101.  Trade weight wooly lambs are selling from $22 - $65. Trade and heavy weight new season lambs sold from $90 - $123.   Heavy weight short skin lambs ranged from $113 - $168.  Trade weight Merino lambs $28 - $68 while heavy Merino lambs topped out at $98. The best heavy hoggets reached a top of $83.

Into the mutton pens now where all grades were $10 cheaper.

Light ewes sold from $8 - $18
Medium weight ewes sold from $25 - $38
Heavy weight ewes sold from $42 - $56

Light wethers sold from $18 - $26
Medium weight wethers sold from $27 - $36
Heavy wethers sold from $43 - $60

Well that about wraps it up for another week.

So until next week ……………………………….bye.
